File-Sharing: Web sites that host directories of music, movies, games and other software. Users upload content to file-hosting sites and then post descriptions of the material and their download links on directory sites. Uploaders are paid by the file-hosting sites based on the number of times their files are downloaded. The file-hosting sites sell premium download access to the files to the general public. The websites that host the directory services sell advertising and do not host the files themselves.

Unfortunately, there were also those website owners who were stuck in the middle. Companies and individuals without a dedicated marketing team to test and tweak their strategies also saw their rankings dive.  Most of the websites in this category were run by business owners focused on day-to-day operations.
Video sharing websites: YouTube videos are often utilized by affiliates to do affiliate marketing. A person would create a video and place a link to the affiliate product they are promoting in the video itself and within the description.
Hi Amy – thanks for explaining all of this! I have a food/cooking/recipe blog. Any idea of some affiliate networks to join that provide for this niche? The ones you listed don’t seem to fit. Or do people who have food blogs also join these types of networks you mentioned? I feel like it would make more sense for me to have affiliate links for cooking products or food related products. Let me know how I can go about finding affiliate networks that carry these types of products.
Uncontrolled affiliate programs aid rogue affiliates, who use spamming,[23] trademark infringement, false advertising, cookie stuffing, typosquatting,[24] and other unethical methods that have given affiliate marketing a negative reputation.
“Just a shout out from the UK. I have purchased a handful of courses over the last year or so. I must be on a lot of mailing lists by now ; and have often wondered if selling on Amazon was running out of steam , with so many courses available ( created by previous sellers ) so I was a tad sceptical about purchasing PAC. This has to be the finest course on selling on Amz I have purchased and probably ever will ( and that’s not me gushing! )  So thank you Jim Cockrum…, keep shining the light! A great Q4 to all!” – Peter S.
Intermediate Affiliates: Focuses on high volume traffic sources with smaller margins than the Beginner, but more volume. Obscenely clustered around the dating niche (and more recently adult dating). High competition on large traffic sources reduces the size of the pie for all. Smart movers in this category target mobile marketing and pop traffic.
I’m currently looking for an email marketing service for a mailing list of about 80,000 subscribers. I run an information product business in the fitness industry with a large number of customers buying our ebooks and online courses every day. I’m particularly interested in GetResponse, although I’d be keen to hear your thoughts on the flexibility of their service for creating autoresponders, and integrating with a checkout service (we use WooCommerce).

There are currently 300 hours of video uploaded to YouTube every minute of every day – 5 hours of video content every second! Which only validates the fact that video marketing is a growing trend – the numbers say it all.
“…my wife and I have been using the lessons you have taught in the PAC and we turned a profit last year! We have tried a couple of different businesses in the past, and this is the first one that we actually made money on the first try! Not bad, but I definitely want to do better. My goal is to make enough to quit my current job and do this full time so I can stay at home with my wife and daughters.” — S. Baxter
A browser extension is a plug-in that extends the functionality of a web browser. Some extensions are authored using web technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. Most modern web browsers have a whole slew of third-party extensions available for download. In recent years, there has been a constant rise in the number of malicious browser extensions flooding the web. Malicious browser extensions will often appear to be legitimate as they seem to originate from vendor websites and come with glowing customer reviews.[28] In the case of affiliate marketing, these malicious extensions are often used to redirect a user’s browser to send fake clicks to websites that are supposedly part of legitimate affiliate marketing programs. Typically, users are completely unaware this is happening other than their browser performance slowing down. Websites end up paying for fake traffic number, and users are unwitting participants in these ad schemes.
Is it necessary to have a blog website? What if I wanted to create a straight up e-commerce site selling products from major retail outlets. A website that rewards with discounts or other special promos just for buying through our affiliate site.

In April 2008 the State of New York inserted an item in the state budget asserting sales tax jurisdiction over Amazon.com sales to residents of New York, based on the existence of affiliate links from New York–based websites to Amazon.[41] The state asserts that even one such affiliate constitutes Amazon having a business presence in the state, and is sufficient to allow New York to tax all Amazon sales to state residents. Amazon challenged the amendment and lost at the trial level in January 2009. The case is currently making its way through the New York appeals courts.
