With search marketing in a relatively constant state of evolution, refreshing competitive strategies is an exercise that is easily overlooked. As we enter a new year, it seems like a good opportunity to highlight a couple of the competitive strategies my agency, ZOG Digital, employs for our clients for both paid and organic search.

Earlier, we mentioned that Google AdWords places advertisements based on both keywords and bids. But with so many advertisers competing for space, there is a lot of competition for keywords – and as a result, more competitive bids.
“First off, your blog and ProvenAmazonCourse.com course rocks. You rock. I know, flattery will get me nowhere but I really love what you are doing. Love your books and your PAC course. Kudos, my friend.”
The implementation of affiliate marketing on the internet relies heavily on various techniques built into the design of many web-pages and websites, and the use of calls to external domains to track user actions (click tracking, Ad Sense) and to serve up content (advertising) to the user. Most of this activity adds time and is generally a nuisance to the casual web-surfer and is seen as visual clutter. Various countermeasures have evolved over time to prevent or eliminate the appearance of advertising when a web-page is rendered. Third party programs (Ad-Aware, Adblock Plus, Spybot, pop-up blockers, etc.) and particularly, the use of a comprehensive HOSTS file can effectively eliminate the visual clutter and the extra time and bandwidth needed to render many web pages. The use of specific entries in the HOSTS file to block these well-known and persistent marketing and click-tracking domains can also aid in reducing a system’s exposure to malware by preventing the content of infected advertising or tracking servers to reach a user’s web-browser.
You can put up banners on your site, to promote your affiliate offers. Most affiliate programs will usually provide their own creatives when you sign up for their offers. All you have to do is insert the banner on a highly trafficked page (your affiliate tracking is usually embedded within the code). Banner ads in the right locations can do a great job of driving sales.

Let no one tell you that email marketing is dead. An email list is crucial for every affiliate marketer. You can start building up your email list with a lead magnet (like the information products mentioned previously) or even just by encouraging your audience to sign up for your updates. You can then push your content to this audience via email and also direct them to your affiliate offers. Don’t be sleazy about the sales, but if you build up enough trust with your email audience; when the time comes, they will not mind purchasing a product from you.
All sorts of keyword phrases can be triggered by the content you create. You may have a couple keywords in mind. But a few months later, analyze that page through SEMrush and you may see other keywords for which that page ranks well.
The final component that completes the affiliate relationship triangle is the consumer. The consumer is the one who actually sees the ad and then makes an action (either by clicking a link or by submitting their information via a form) that takes them from the publisher’s website to the advertiser’s to complete the action, which we call a conversion.

I’m signed up for the Amazon affiliate program, and when I click on the “link to this page” I get HTML code, which is all fine and dandy, but it doesn’t work well when I want to share an affiliate link on Facebook. If I just copy the URL of the given item, will it magically be an affiliates link? Or what else should I be doing?

“We signed up for Amazon FBA seven months ago, and so far we have completed a little over 4,100 orders on Amazon. I consider this VERY successful and based on our sourcing criteria of 1:3 (buy for $10, predict we can sell for $30), we have had good profitability.” — Denny Basham
“ As a single mom with two homeschooled kids to raise alone, I had tried every business opportunity possible to avoid having to get a minimum wage job, after being out of the job market for more than twenty plus years, to support my family and I. Then one day a miracle happened. After watching a webinar, I purchased PAC for a nominal fee and got down to the business of starting FBA with the help of my two boys. As a complete non-techi, e-commerce newbie, and with very little funds to invest in products, I was able to amass five figures per month in 5 months. At the end of the year, to our surprise, we sold $278,407.04 worth of products! The PAC course was truly a Godsend. I invested 4 years and tens of thousands of dollars in a college degree that never gave me a quick return on my investment like PAC. I highly recommend this course because it gives step-by-step, doable instructions for all learning styles. Jim and his wonderful staff of successful Amazon sellers will help you to succeed. The motivational and inspirational support is worth its weight in gold. Elon-thepajamamomma.com ” — Elon Bomani

I have very few mail customers but would like to get started on this. If I use mail chimp to get my first 2000 email addresses over the next year or so ( obviously for free! ) can I then migrate them into Get Response when I am ready to start paying a monthly fee? I am a musician so it is more for my fans than for selling.
