A. The information we’ll show you is everything you need to get started. Based on your budget, you will have to invest in inventory. Some of our top students started out with $500 and now have $100,000+ per month in sales. We’ll also tell you about the optional equipment you can use to help automate your entire operation. If you buy ALL of the tools we suggest you’ll spend another $300+ or so, but you don’t need these tools until you are showing a profit. We’ll show you exactly what equipment and software options you have. There are plenty of Amazon sellers and FBA users who start out with no software tools or equipment and work their way up to a fully automated business as they can afford it. Do not spend your last bit of cash on this course, but if you have a little capital to work with this is a fantastic business model.
Some affiliate networks work with many brands/products so in those cases, you can be affiliates for multiple brands/products if you’re part of one affiliate network. Then there are other brands or products that have their own affiliate programs, so those you’ll have to manage separately. It can get sort of crazy to keep track. I use a spreadsheet with brand/product name, my affiliate link, whether or not the company is part of an affiliate network, etc. I wrote about it here. I hope that makes sense!
The free account also has a low send limit and contact limit. It’s great if you just want to send a few newsletters to a few hundred contacts though. Just bear in mind that Mailchimp can become (relatively) expensive when you need to upgrade. Mailchimp also offer two payment types – pay as you go or a monthly subscription. While expensive, the pay as you go plan is good if you’re sending emails sporadically.
Great question. I’ve never used plugins for affiliate links (I tend to keep my plugin use as light as possible). I do keep a spreadsheet that makes pasting in my affiliate links quite simple though, even though it requires an extra step. I wrote about it here.
Robly – Robly’s OpenGen technology starts with a regular email campaign send. OpenGen will then resend your campaign one to 10 days later, with a different subject line to those subscribers who didn’t open the first campaign. The system also sends emails one at a time, at the moment subscribers are most likely to check their inboxes. The service features A/B testing, a pop-up widget to increase contacts and mobile-responsive templates. robly.com
The main thing to consider is that Infusionsoft starts at $199/month + a one-off $2,000 fee for a kickstarter package. Realistically, you’ll likely end up paying $300-$400 per month for one of their more advanced packages. GetResponse is $450/month for 100,000 subscribers.
Another question I had was to do with email delivery rates. Do you know of any way to gauge the quality of an email marketing software company’s delivery rates before becoming a customer and running your own test? I’d love to see a comparison like this post focusing on quantitative metrics like that. Perhaps an idea for a future post?
Possibly the most popular option is MailChimp, almost definitely because they offer a free plan for small businesses, and integrate with a multitude of third-party providers. While it lacks some of the most robust features of some of the following platforms, it’s very well suited to the needs of smaller teams, startups, and solo workers. This is a no-fuss option, and the paid option is very reasonable at $10/month.
I don’t need to put my face on this thumbnail, but it helps my fans recognize me. And if people aren’t familiar with me, they’ll see the title of this video and wonder who the heck that guy is and may click and video and be introduced.
What TMZ Sports and Business Insider essentially do is write half a sentence and leaves it as a “….”. This means that if you want to find who said what or what the kids should, you’ll have to click on the video to find out.
Amy, I’m often asked about how I make money from my blog. It can be quite challenging to explain, but you’ve done so here in a very easy-to-understand way. I will be bookmarking this post for the future…so when I’m asked again, I can say, “see what Amy says.” 😉 Thanks!
Free Bonus #6: Creating Variation Listings – In several categories (not all) Amazon allows you to create variation listings for things like size, color, style, model and so on. This bonus item shows you how to set up variation listings.
1. Study the arts of inbound marketing and online sales writing. This will take some time, but it will be mostly or entirely free—there are plenty of free online resources, not to mention books at your local library. Here’s a fantastic article to start with: https://www.usability.gov/how-to-and-tools/methods/writing-for-the-web.html
Editorial Staff, you are a genius! I didn’t even think to use that feature. I am going to look into it and add it as a reader tip into the post. So smart! I bet all the soccer parents love the cute emails
Yes, the word “marketing” is part of the phrase affiliate marketing, but for the most part, our job as an affiliate is not to sell — that is the job of the sales page our affiliate links lead the reader to.
“Hi Jim – I’m KILLING it on Amazon thanks to YOUR provenamazoncourse.com advice (along with – in my earlier years of selling – Jordan, Nathan and a couple others) My ‘Units Sold’ and ‘profit per unit’ have SKYROCKETED. My returns are upwards of 300% net of commission/shipping/fba fees/pro merchant subscriptions etc. My 5 STAR 100% perfect CUSTOMER RATING ALONG WITH A “1.00” PERFECT INTERNAL ACCOUNT SCORE have given me the ability to work from home FULL TIME (I have a part time weekend only job to cover ALL bills+child support). To scale my biz, EVERY SINGLE CENT earned on Amazon using the FBA platform get reinvested into more/more/more inventory. Positioned beautifully for the upcoming holiday season.”
Your life situation might dictate that $200/day is the pinnacle of financial motivation. You can drive yourself to attain this goal, but any further and the motivation begins to slip. That’s a point of diminishing returns. Call it your comfort zone. Any work to advance beyond this point comes with the additional burden of pushing you out of that comfort zone. And so procrastination sets in, along with the dual crippling fears of failure and success.
At the same time you’re creating your storyboard, you’ll also want to decide how long your video you should be. On YouTube, videos under two minutes receive the highest levels of engagement. Your video should be just long enough to deliver the key messages that align with the goal you set in step 1. If you do create a longer video, experiment with how you present content — the pacing, story arc, and visuals — to keep viewers interested throughout.
After you’ve planned your story and written the first draft of your script, it’s important to cut out all of the parts that are superfluous. Then, once you’ve written your script (even if it’s as something simple as a burger review) you need to read it aloud so you can rewrite and cut all all parts that do not move the story forward.
Euro 2016 is the second most popular football tournament in the world after the World Cup, and fans of the game are turning to YouTube in their millions to catch the latest football-related content. A new report from Tubular confirms that UK football videos alone generated 6.2B views and 194M engagements in 2015, while German and French football-related videos generated a combined 2.5B views, and 71M engagements….
So again, it’s not an exact science, but even if you don’t end up ranking in Google, many of your viewers will still appreciate it because having text that coincides with your video often helps people retain the information better.
First, you need to identify keywords that are relevant to your business and that prospective customers are likely to use when searching for your products and services. One way to accomplish this is by using WordStream’s Free Keyword Tool.

When you’ve set this up, all that’s left to do is promote your website so you can get more people to your content, and more potential for commissions from referred sales. There are a lot of different marketing strategies out there, from advertising to social media, but you won’t have to worry about this part of it straight away.
Perhaps it’s obvious, but all of these advertising options work best for sites with high traffic since they are all dependent on lots of eyeballs seeing the ads and either clicking or completing actions.
For Sponsored Products, you can set an average daily budget. The minimum average daily budget is $1.00. For Headline Search ads and Product Display ads you can set an average daily budget ($1.00 minimum) or a campaign budget. Campaign budget is the total amount you are willing to spend for a single campaign. The minimum amount you may set for a campaign budget is $100.00.

“Last spring I signed up for the jimcockrumcoaching.com coaching program and N.B. worked with me. He was able to help me realize a profit in my online marketing business. Last year I made gross $35,000 selling ***. I just listened to the interview with Brett recorded in early 2013 and I was impressed it has inspired me to take my business to the next level. Earlier last year 2012 I bought about 500 ***** for $250 and I have sold a number of them having cleared probably more than $2,500 and still have about 25% that still need to be processed with 25% of them still available on Amazon. I have one book that is worth $1,000 though it has yet to sell. The Mentoring program has proven to be the best investment that I have made to date. I have found success with eBay and Amazon….” — J Rask
Hey Amy–great informative post, here. I am going to look into a few of these and choose wisely. I want to make sure I am building a really solid readership first before bombarding people with ads, but I think your explanation was SPOT ON. Thanks for that. And much agreed on the comment above–there are some sites I don’t even BOTHER with b/c I just feel like all they do is post various links so they make a profit. Some to the point where I’m like, “wheres the CONTENT????” Even pioneer woman didn’t get to where she is if the content wasn’t there. People aren’t dumb–they can smell a scam a mile away.
The winner of an auction is not solely determined by the CPC Bid+, but also by other factors such as the ad’s relevancy. Thus, it is not possible to determine which will win by only looking at the Bid+ setting.
For me, there are three things that really stand out about Mailchimp. The first is that it’s probably one of the easiest email marketing tools to use. Their campaign builder makes building campaigns a breeze, even for the total beginner. Importing and exporting your list is also made really easy.
