These three components are just the foundation of building a successful online marketing strategy. But without an understanding of how these three areas lay the groundwork for your overall strategy, you could find your efforts wasted. By building a solid online marketing foundation, you can begin to build a successful strategy that works for your business.
Hi Amy – thanks for explaining all of this! I have a food/cooking/recipe blog. Any idea of some affiliate networks to join that provide for this niche? The ones you listed don’t seem to fit. Or do people who have food blogs also join these types of networks you mentioned? I feel like it would make more sense for me to have affiliate links for cooking products or food related products. Let me know how I can go about finding affiliate networks that carry these types of products.
First, you need to identify keywords that are relevant to your business and that prospective customers are likely to use when searching for your products and services. One way to accomplish this is by using WordStream’s Free Keyword Tool.
Free Bonus #8: Restricted Brands on Amazon – Here’s a list of restricted brands on Amazon. If you try and list any of these brands the system will usually block you from doing so. But if you do manage to list one of them and Amazon finds out they will kill your listing and issue a policy warning.
Nothing breaks a reader’s trust more than being led to a promotion that will blow up their inbox. Put yourself in the shoes of a potential customer and see what will happen if they follow your advice.
I haven’t heard of Feedblitz – just looking at their website now. Appears that they’re a Feedburner replacement specialising in RSS-to-email (sending your blog subscribers an email about latest posts). Their pricing looks a bit steep (considering Feedburner was free) – so I’d probably choose Mailchimp or Aweber over them? That way you can message up to a few thousand people free of charge.
“iContact Pro has allowed us to create an existence in this awesome age of technology, social media and online marketing! We are now able to create workflows and manage our client and prospect emails with a best practice approach.”
In April 2008 the State of New York inserted an item in the state budget asserting sales tax jurisdiction over Amazon.com sales to residents of New York, based on the existence of affiliate links from New York–based websites to Amazon. The state asserts that even one such affiliate constitutes Amazon having a business presence in the state, and is sufficient to allow New York to tax all Amazon sales to state residents. Amazon challenged the amendment and lost at the trial level in January 2009. The case is currently making its way through the New York appeals courts.
Search engine marketing (SEM) is a form of Internet marketing that involves the promotion of websites by increasing their visibility in search engine results pages (SERPs) primarily through paid advertising. SEM may incorporate search engine optimization (SEO), which adjusts or rewrites website content and site architecture to achieve a higher ranking in search engine results pages to enhance pay per click (PPC) listings.

I’m currently looking for an email marketing service for a mailing list of about 80,000 subscribers. I run an information product business in the fitness industry with a large number of customers buying our ebooks and online courses every day. I’m particularly interested in GetResponse, although I’d be keen to hear your thoughts on the flexibility of their service for creating autoresponders, and integrating with a checkout service (we use WooCommerce).

For SEO, competitors making significant gains in keywords you’re already monitoring can mean that they have enhanced site content, corrected technical issues, received an influx of social shares and/or picked up high-quality links or citations. Big jumps can also signal a positive alignment with algorithm updates and should be investigated to address any competitive gaps that may have emerged.
Honest affiliate marketing has always worked best for me, so I encourage you to do the same. I feel strongly that there’s a “right” way to approach affiliate marketing, and so I created a guide, Affiliate Marketing the Smart Way. It’s free and filled with all of my best advice on the topic.
1AutomationWiz – 1AutomationWiz is an email marketing service that features autoresponders, broadcast emailing, custom opt-in forms, lead generation and mailing list management. The service also includes HTML email templates and built-in analytics. 1automationwiz.com/email-marketing.html
While the table above should give you a good idea of the price range you’ll be looking at for a mailing list of up to 1,000 contacts, the right email marketing tool must also offer all of the features and integrations you require, have good email deliverability rates, be easy to use, and more.
@Frank – I’ve never heard of them, and a quick Google search for your name + MPZ Mail reveals you promoting them on Quora. I’m not sure why you’d ask for more information on them if you’re already a user recommending them to others? Are you affiliated with them by any chance?
I don’t need to put my face on this thumbnail, but it helps my fans recognize me. And if people aren’t familiar with me, they’ll see the title of this video and wonder who the heck that guy is and may click and video and be introduced.
“I am in the U.K and so I was initially unsure whether the content of PAC would be relevant to my market. I must say my doubts were unfounded! This course has turned out to be the most thorough and practical online selling course I have ever studied. From people who are eager to get started to those who want to take their online selling to the highest level, PAC provides standards of excellence with content updated and added to on a regular basis.
I agree with marketing automation. Most of the B2B companies are utilizing marketing automation because it can help in marketing processes. Also, when leads freeze over and unable to move toward sales, marketing automation enters, helping managers fish out qualified sales prospects.
All too often, B2B and industrial companies dive into search engine marketing without a coherent strategy. Don’t fall into this trap. Get off on the right foot by thoroughly defining your target audience(s), identifying their needs and motivations and highlighting how your products can serve these needs. Next, review your company’s position in the marketplace. Identify your top competitors and your company’s competitive advantage. Finally, identify specific goals and benchmarks, such as search rankings, website traffic increases, sales lead volume and other ROI metrics, to allow you to measure the success of your search engine marketing campaign. This strategy will form the foundation of your campaign and put you on the path to success.
It is not a waste of time to write meaningful, helpful posts that don’t contain a single affiliate link. Too often bloggers ask, “how could this post earn me money?” and not, “how can I position my blog as one that is a valuable resource?” Build the trust with your readership through solid, quality content so when you do have the right opportunity to share an affiliate link or two – you’ll have a captured audience and not a desensitized one.
I wondered, what are your thoughts on solutions like Mailigen, Vertical Response, Mad Mimi, and Campaign Monitor? I know there’s a never ending list of possible email software companies that you could compare, but these ones in particular interested me as they seem to offer many similar services to those that you mentioned. Have you come across them before, and if so would you advise using them over GetResponse?

An affiliate network is like a middleman. They provide a place where advertisers (i.e. companies that have products or services to sell, sometimes called “vendors”) are matched up with publishers (i.e. you, the blogger or website owner; also referred to as “affiliates”).
The most common question we are asked is, “Where can I find profitable inventory to sell?” This book is yet another fantastic answer to that question. If you have an internet connection and want to enhance your Amazon business, this guide will be a tremendous lift to your confidence as you start to easily sourcing incredible bargains daily for your Amazon business.
Some advertisers offer multi-tier programs that distribute commission into a hierarchical referral network of sign-ups and sub-partners. In practical terms, publisher “A” signs up to the program with an advertiser and gets rewarded for the agreed activity conducted by a referred visitor. If publisher “A” attracts publishers “B” and “C” to sign up for the same program using his sign-up code, all future activities performed by publishers “B” and “C” will result in additional commission (at a lower rate) for publisher “A”.
You can then build automated email campaigns to different segments of your list. For example, if someone on your list hasn’t bought your product but suddenly visits your pricing page, you could instantly trigger a targeted email campaign to that person based on their behavior on your website.
“The Proven Amazon Course is wonderful. It propelled my online sales incredibly. My wife and I have 5 children, the 4 youngest are home-schooled. The job market was awful in the area where I was. Working in a warehouse seasonally was not good enough to pay the bills that a family of our size accumulated. Before the P.A.C. we were merchant fulfilling between 20 to 30 small packages every day between Thanksgiving and Christmas of 2011. Then we started with the course. WOW! My wife and I instantly saw the incredible potential of sending in the items to the warehouses so Amazon could ship them professionally all around the globe. We jumped in the first week of 2012 and have not looked back. With the income from selling I am able to be available for my family and do things as a family. We recently were able to purchase a used Ford F150 in full with our earnings. With that purchase and the family car we can now go as a family together places. Before we had to make 2 trips or rent a vehicle. Financially last year was our best year yet and this year is shaping up to be even better. We have over 4000 items in the warehouses now. The Proven Amazon Course has been a BLESSING to our family. Thanks Jim and the PAC team!” — M Markuson
“My testimonial is 5 years ago I went through the PAC. It changed my life. Honestly. Since then I have not worked a 9-5 job at all. Within a couple months time I was earning more than my previous jobs. This year we became homeowners. Thanks to Jim Cockrum and the PAC team.” – Michael M.
Good overview of platforms but I’m sick of these reviews that simply praise each platform, don’t rate them, don’t say what they are lacking or how they compare. Obviously it’s not to critique the platforms as they provide you with affiliate income, but sometimes I think you would do better with a more critical approach. Anyhow, my thoughts.
How much you bid depends on the business goals for your campaign. The minimum CPC bid is $0.02, but actual bids can be much higher, depending on the category you advertise in and the keywords you choose to target. We recommend setting CPC bids to the maximum you are willing to pay for a click. Keep in mind that the most popular keywords likely have above average CPC bids. The average CPC bids by category for Sponsored Products are available here(Sign-in Required).
“Hi Jim; I took your ProvenAmazonCourse.com course and felt that $200 a month profit would be like Hog Heaven to me. I live in a low income neighborhood where a lot of people have lost their homes. Some have been evicted-talk about heart breaking. Last month alone I had a profit of $10,978.24, before taxes of about 25%, and since 4 months after joining your course-about 2 years ago- have NOT had to take any money out of social security payments or ira monthly payments to pay any bills. We have paid off our solar power installation bill-over $14,000- a year and a half ago. I wasn’t doing very good at first but Nathan Bailey would NOT let me quit on myself thank God. The lady who was my trainer at first was a big help and I still refer to her notes for reference. Thank you, thank you for pulling me into this course and sticking with it, Be cool, ps you have my unconditional permission to this unintended/unsolicited testimonial wherever you choose psps the IRS loves me because I pay a LOT of taxes” — Jim Lowe- Inkster, Michigan **editor note: Nathan is the coaching director at JimCockrumCoaching.com
“The Jim Cockrum Team has taken me from “just getting by each month with about $10 extra to spare” and risking $4000 Total in the bank about 7 years ago to paying more in taxes yearly, than I used to make in a year. It was/IS work then and now but, if you are willing to work hard and smart in the first few years starting out, in my opinion, YOU Can do it. Thank you Jim Cockrum team.”
GetResponse have fantastic autoresponders and a good automation tool that allows you to automatically remove/move contacts between lists when certain conditions are met (e.g. removing a contact from a list called ‘leads’ when a lead makes a purchase). Beyond this though, their automation rules are quite limited.
I went “live” on [less than 2 months ago]… I decided to start with books, because the inventory is literally everywhere, and real cheap! Profit l-margins are through the roof. The PAC was a real game-changer though. I mean… WOW! So far, I’ve sold almost $1,200 ($1,130.71 to be exact) and I’ve started to get an “eye” for what’s good, and what’s not. 99.99% off all I learned about book selling was from the PAC. …I learned about textbooks, which resulted in [selling] two books. One for $20, and a textbook for $200! Total spent on both books that sold…. $2! So, as a result of the PAC on that one day, $2 turned into $220! Not bad!! The PAC is easily the best value on planet earth. The course could be sold for literally thousands… it’s the deal of a lifetime! If you’re on the fence about getting the PAC for yourself….. literally… what are you waiting on!? Buy it. Like yesterday!
Some drawbacks are that the free plan does not include auto-responses, and setting up a paid plan is not an instant process. You’ll also need to reload your browser whenever you want to see an updated report, which may not matter unless you’re eagerly waiting for results from your latest campaign.
