Feeling overwhelmed where to begin. There are so many sites that will give you an affiliate website for $100-$200. But these are generic and there could be 100’s of the exact same site out there. I thought an affiliate business is where you sell products for another larger company through your website. Whereas when a customer clicks on a product on your website, it directs them to the parent website, etc. Your info seems to say that I need to write articles about a particular subject and get advertisers to list on my website… I am not looking to blog. I am looking to offer niche products for a commission since I cannot afford to house inventory. Would also like to have sites where I can do ad-sense. Cant say I am an expert on any particular subject. Again, very new to all this, and feeling lost. Sure I am missing something. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
For example, whenever I talk Google AdWords pay per click advertising I’m bound to mention Perry Marshall’s free e-course. Whenever I talk about systems in my business I mention Rich Schefren’s Strategic Profits course. If I talk about blogging for money, I talk about Blog Mastermind.

Residual payments let you earn ongoing commissions for months or even years. For instance, if you’re selling monthly subscriptions to web-based photo editing tools, you’ll get paid a commission each month your customer pays their subscription fee. However, if your customer signs up for the photo editing service, doesn’t like it, and quits after a month, there goes your ongoing commission from that client.

Be sure to check what kind of customer support you can expect from your affiliate program once you have signed up. Do your research online and if possible, speak to other sellers using the program to get their thoughts. Can you speak to someone via phone or Skype or do you have to wait 72 hours for email responses? Be clear on this because trust me, you will need support at one point or another.
Cost per action/sale methods require that referred visitors do more than visit the advertiser’s website before the affiliate receives a commission. The advertiser must convert that visitor first. It is in the best interest of the affiliate to send the most closely targeted traffic to the advertiser as possible to increase the chance of a conversion. The risk and loss are shared between the affiliate and the advertiser.
A browser extension is a plug-in that extends the functionality of a web browser. Some extensions are authored using web technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. Most modern web browsers have a whole slew of third-party extensions available for download. In recent years, there has been a constant rise in the number of malicious browser extensions flooding the web. Malicious browser extensions will often appear to be legitimate as they seem to originate from vendor websites and come with glowing customer reviews.[28] In the case of affiliate marketing, these malicious extensions are often used to redirect a user’s browser to send fake clicks to websites that are supposedly part of legitimate affiliate marketing programs. Typically, users are completely unaware this is happening other than their browser performance slowing down. Websites end up paying for fake traffic number, and users are unwitting participants in these ad schemes.
You may know Adam as Rollerblader in the ABestWeb forum. If I were much more serious about affiliate marketing at this point (and I will be in the future) I would be sure to read blogs like yours and his. I would make it a point to work with affiliate managers like him who are willing and able to do far more for their affiliates and merchants and protect us from parasiteware and other challenges.
Example of these so called licensee products? Do you mean like a Start Wars iphone case and upsell with a luxury 5 day stay at Disney World where you get to stay in a Star Wars themed hotel / room and dress up as your favorite star wars character ?

MaxBounty came in sixth in the 2012 Blue Book of Top 20 CPA Networks, though it didn’t make a showing in the Blue Book’s top 20 affiliate networks. In business since 2004, the network was founded on the philosophy of paying its affiliates more.
I’ve been tempted many a time to jump ship after experiencing conversion rates lower than 0.1% on promotions I’ve done for Internet marketing products, although that might be more to do with the type of person I attract rather than the market itself.
Here the affiliates are paid depending on of how many visitors are sent to the merchant website and then sign up as leads. For the visitor to sign up as leads, it means that the visitors will fill out the information request form on the merchant site.

This is a well written and informative article, though I am a bit confused about the reference to affiliate fraud just from not having a web site. Many affiliate programs these days allow e-mail campaigns, which do not require one to have an actual site. As long as it’s done within the bounds of the current laws, and there is no spamming, I see nothing wrong. Unfortunately, there will always be uncountable hordes that either haven’t a clue, or don’t care.
Another consideration you may need to look at, which is over looked by affiliates and online business in general is PPC marketing the conversion rate, how many visitors does it actually take to make a sale… These are all things you need to take into consideration when deciding on a suitable percentage for anyone promoting your products.
